Haley Simmons was born and raised in Sarasota, FLorida where her dance training began at the age of fourteen, at Booker HIgh School’s Visual and Performing Arts Program. There, under the direction of Courtney Smith, Deborah Vinton and Melissa Lodhi, her training focused on Checchetti Ballet, Modern, Improvisation, and Choreography. Her passions led her to continue her dance education at the University of Florida where she learned from renowned artists like Ric Rose, Tiffany Rhynard, Isa-Garcia Rose, Tsveta Pulvermacher, Trent D. Williams Jr., Elizabeth Johnson, Angela DiFore, Nita Little, Doug Gillespie, Dr. Joan Frosch and Maria Gillespie. During her time at University, she also published movement research on somatics and communication, and danced abroad at the University of South Florida’s Dance in Paris Program under the tutelage of Michael Foley. Studying movement in Europe, she found a passion for dance theatre adn postmodernism, as well as yoga. After earning her Bachelors of Fine Arts with Highest Honors and interning at Bates Dance Festival, she began teaching at IndepenDANCE Studios and Pohfals Studio in Gainsville, Florida. She also completed her 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training with Melissa Montilla at Sanctuary Yoga in 2020 and became an ACE Certified Personal Trainer in 2021. Now Haley performs with Sarasota Contemporary Dance Ensemble and teaches at Art & Soul Dance Company.
